The Wayland boys’ varsity track team won its own invitational meet Friday afternoon and evening, registering 806 total points in an eight-team field.

The Wildcat girls took third with 753 points, behind Middleville Thornapple Kellogg and Jenison.

Capturing firsts in the competition for the Wildcat boys were:

  • Kaharrie Pureifoy in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with time of 11.16 and 22.77 seconds, respectively.
  • Austin Graham in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.41 and 300-meter hurdles in 43.28.

Taking seconds were:

  • Pureifoy in the long jump at 20-03.75, with teammate Cam Mouketou third.
  • Adam Huff in both the shot and discus at 45-6 and 146-2. Bronson Huyck and Craig Deremody were third and fourth.
  • The 3200-meter relay team with Dylan Pallett, Travis Koon, Henry Oudbier and Devin Weaver, 8:48.79.
  • The 400-meter relay quartet of Terry Sylvester, Austin Graham, Mouketou and Pureifoy, 44.64.
  • Weaver in the 800 meters, 2:04.95 and third in the 1600.

For the Lady Wildcats, freshman pole vault sensation Evie Mathis matched her 11-6 performance from Tuesday, tying her school record and taking first. Teammate Kennedy Jasinski was second at 9-0.

Olivia Barabas was first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.02.

Senior Brenna Hyde finished second in the 100-meter high hurdles and she was runner-up in the long jump at 16-03.5.

The 800-meter relay team of Taylor Wolf, Elliot Antel, Ana Teunissen and Laney Wolf was third in 1:55.21.

Antel, Hyde, Taylor Wolf and Barabas combined efforts to take runner-up honors in 1600 relay at 4:24.88.

Barabas, Emma Byers, Emma Thayer and Taylor Hoogewind hook up for third in the 3200 relay.
