Wildcats now 10-0 in O-K Gold Conference play

The Wayland softball team Tuesday extended its winning streak to 18 games with a doubleheader sweep of Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills.

The Wildcats pitching staff, giving ace Madi Ludema the day off, consisted of Harmony Laker and Carli Miklusicak, yielded no runs by the Bengals.

In the first game, won by a 21-0 count in three innings, Ludema  crashed a home run and Mikliusicak a triple to pace an eight-attack that also included 12 walks.

Laker fired a no-hitter over three innings, fanning five of the six batters she faced. The game was halted in the top of the second inning because the 10-run mercy rule was implemented.

Carli Mikluisicak threw a no-hitter, striking out seven in three innings of play in the nightcap.  Leading the Wildcats offensive attack was Madi Ludema, Reese Veltman and Kaidence Burton. Reese Veltman had a home run and Kaidence Burton added a double. Hannah Rairigh was 2-for-3, with a triple. Harmony Laker added a double. 

The Lady Wildcats are 10-0 in O-K Gold Conference play and they’re being chased by a South Christian team that stands at 9-1. They are 22-4 overall and will step out of league play Thursday to take on Byron Center.
